History
From 1994 until 1996 the CTA leased 33 GM New Look buses from Pace, Chicago’s suburban bus system. The extra buses were needed while the Green Line rapid transit line closed for renovation. The buses were from a group of 55 that were built for Pace’s South Division predecessor, South Suburban Safeway Lines, in 1973. The buses were repainted in CTA’s white, red, and blue paint scheme, although they retained their original numbers.
