Service History

In 1972, the CTA placed an order for 525 GM New Look buses. The order was the beginning of a total of 1,870 New Look buses the CTA would purchase between 1972 and 1977.

The 1000-series was the first major order of buses that would include air conditioning. Previously, the CTA had tested 10 air conditioned vehicles in 1965.

The buses were painted in the CTA’s two-tone green scheme.

The 1000-series was retired by 1991.
